First round of random ramblings
In less than a month my kids and I begin our homeschooling journey. I am nervous as heck! I don't have a teaching degree, nor the patience of saint but this is what is best for us at this time. After having my oldest in a private school where they taught Common Core (I am not a fan), not being able to help with homework, or get answers from the principal or superintendent of the diocese I learned that my voice was of little concern so leaping into the unknown world of homeschooling was our solution.
I lucked out in having many friends who have begun homeschooling their children and have offered great advice. The only difference is that I get to work a full time job whilst homeschooling. I have lucked out in that my boss has allowed me to work from home but I'm still working a 40 hour work week so time management will be my best friend. People have asked me how I plan on doing it all and the answer: I don't know but we'll figure it out as we go!
We are excited. We are looking forward to the last few books arriving. Looking forward to not having homework is the highlight of my 4th grader at the moment (traumatic memories with homework :shudder:) Planning field trips around what we're learning and having it be fun. Let the adventure begin.
Ok, enough rambling for now.
